I cannot see how anyone who is a "very" public figure like Ergun Caner can think he can get away with "faking" the background to his life just for emotional testimonial effect in today's internet driven world. This is why I said Dr. Caner is swiftly becoming the Mike Warnke of this generation. There is a reason why the first qualification Paul lists for spiritual leaders is to be "above reproach" (1 Tim. 3:2). That means behave yourself with personal integrity so no one can come along later and blame you for lying.

I take it the documents he quotes are a matter of public record? I would like to know the story of how he researched this. In either case, if it is true it is obviously scandalous and I would think it is only a matter of time before things come crashing down for Ergun.
The documents look like the are copies of public records. They are stamped with official county information. The records he cites are the type that have to be made public. Housing records, divorce records, etc.
The public divorce records of Gail Riplinger is what got her in trouble.
Integrity is such a incredible gift of grace, and a minister/pastor/teacher called by the Lord must have integrity. if not he needs to step down.
All Christians should have integrity to some degree, however, when you preach in the pulpit, well, it should be to highest degree.
When ever I listened to this man I thought, is this a Holy Spirit filled teacher of God's word?
I understand we will know them by their fruit, but can we also know them by a sensing in our own spirit?
I guess that can be walking on slippery spiritual ground.
And false teacher may be over the line.
We were just discussing him last night at our Bible study, and how he made some very prideful statements about Muslims.
I wonder how much further Liberty will allow their credibility to slide before they take action. They've got to know by now where things really stand...

Liberty University are aware of Erguns lies. I got a reply from Matthew K. Johnston (Assistant Director of Academic Advising) he quite literally laughed it off. He even sent a copy of my message to Ergun and told him to get a good "chuckle" out of it.
If you are the Muslim (Mohammad Khan) that has been running a campaign against Caner for sometime, I can understand why the assistant dean responded the way he did. I am not saying it is right, but I can understand his "laughing it of."
None the less, I have had these concerns about Dr. Caner long before either James White or the Muslims made them an issue. A teenage Muslim converted to Christianity does not have the "credentials" to write against Islam as an authoritative insider.
Curious: Ergun Caner aside, what about Ayaan Hirsi Ali or Mosab Hassan Yousef? They certainly are not fake ex-Muslims.
As further proof of Caner's fibs, see my blog post earlier this week, where I provide audio tape of Caner's sermon to First Baptist Jax in Nov 2001, shortly after 9/11, and before he was a "big shot"...he actually told us that he was in the "Islamic Youth Jihad" until the age of 15, and that he was "trained to that which was done on 11 September.", and that he spoke broken English as a second language even in his late teens. These are all three impossible, since he came to America at age 4 and never left the country.
And these fibs he told to us that day, were all spoken with his mentor and idol, Jerry Vines, sitting right behind him.
And don't you know the Southern Baptists are out attacking me and James White and Mohammad for calling for Caner to explain and apologize.
Its a sad day in the Southern Baptist Convention when they don't hold Caner accountable for such arrogance.
