Painting Big Honking Planes

While we're on the subject of big planes, ever wonder how they painted them?

I have a buddy who is an executiave for an international aerospace company, and the math behind putting paint on a plane is far more sophisticated than many people realize. If the paint's thickness is off by even half a millimeter, that can add thousands of pounds to the plane - affecting fuel consumption, weight limits, etc.

I was surprised therefore that they didn't strip it down first, but painted over it.

On a tangent here...the video would be more entertaining by taking out the techno and inserting "Yackety Sax" which Benny Hill used on his British TV show for the high-speed comedic chase scenes which usually ended his show.
