Tasering the Bro

Nothing can warm my heart like seeing a leftist conspiracy kook, roaring about stolen elections and the Skull and Bones society, get taken down by The Man, even if The Man is slightly out-of-shape. What's more, it all happened at a John Kerry Q&A session. You'd expect the mean ole' man to taser a political agitator at a Karl Rove forum, but not John Kerry. He's with the people.

MM reports.

More here: it may had been a stunt.

Hey Fred,

The time for civility is long past. To manhandle and then taser-torture a student for asking questions, no matter how inconvenient, is evil, pure and simple.

Is true freedom for the obscenely rich only? Is the USA's constitution nothing more than an "Illuminated" deception? Sadly, all of the available evidence seems to prove it!

Here is Wisdom...

Well, I disagree. This little tin-foil hat wearing narcissus was suppose to ask questions, not give a rambling, conspiracy laden filibuster.

Even his fellow leftists, who were there to hear Kerry, were annoyed with this embarrassment.

I think the guy was thoroughly annoying. However, I believe alot of cops are now using tazers inappropriately. They should be using them to subdue people who are a physical threat, not merely because they're being obnoxious. If they wanted him to leave, they could have EASILY man-handled him out of the auditorium without zapping him.

I think Kerry could have diffused the situation by calling the police off before the situation got so crazy. The whole thing was silly--by both "sides."

2 cents...

Kerry was actually foragainst them using the tazer, and that's why the "bro" juiced the kid with some volts. ; )

Admittedly, I thought it was funny to hear Kerry answering the guy's questions in the background while the kid rolled around on the ground getting zapped.

In my opinion, I don't think cops use tasers enough.

This kid, according to all reports by the witnesses, was being violent by hitting at the officers attempting to escort him from the room. He wasn't tasered and arrested UNTIL after he became violent, at least to those attempting to remove him.

By the way, and I can maybe get officer pec to comment, tasering is not torturous as the first poster complains. A couple of zaps only applies pain for a brief few seconds so as to get the person to comply, and if not, to put him or her off guard so as to give the officers the advantage of getting a better hold of the person.

The media and that screeching girl on the video near the end, wrongly believe he is being electrocuted, but this is hardly the case. Much better to be tasered than to be chemically sprayed in the face with mace or pepper spray.

I probably watched the video from all 300 angles provided by the myriad of videophones (thanks youtube). I don't recall the kid being "violent" at all.
I confess that if I were in the same situation and was being denied my right to speak publicly and ask questions at that forum, I'd probably resist the police bullying too, even if it resulted in me getting tasered. I'm not impressed with cops who gang up on guys like this, since they aren't a real threat to anyone. It just makes me respect them even less as "law enforcers." Again, I believe the cops totally overreacted to the situation. They need to learn to make better judgment calls for differing situations.

This could have EASILY ended in a much more civilized manner, with no shoving, pushing, wrestling and tasering necessary. If they simply told the guy to ask his question and then step away from the mic, and allowed him time to do so, and then if he STILL refused to comply with the request, then he was fair game to be physically removed. Even so, the taser wasn't necessary.

All the stupid tasering episodes in this country make me think we're turning into a police state.

Steve, this is exactly what happened from start to finish. This little selfish jerk refused to just ask his question and then step away from the mike. He even complains how Kerry had two hours to speak and that now HE should be allowed to speak. He refused to comply. And I have watched the same videos and he was getting violent by resisting compliance. Physically jerking around the police officers while refusing to heed their orders is becoming violent. You don't obey the law, you get a spanking. It's that simple.

All the stupid tasering episodes in this country make me think we're turning into a police state.

You need to be in a real police state then you will realize how moronic this statement is and you would certainly be grateful for where you live. We are hardly turning into a police state.

I am grateful for where I live. I agree with you that the guy was being a jerk. However, cops are getting taser happy, and alot of them don't seem to know where to draw the line for using them. This guy hardly needed to be tasered.

...and once again, trigger happy taser carrying officers make yet another inappropriate judgment, this time killing the guy.

You can't tell me that nothing is wrong with current taser practices. They're WAY overused as an easy "fix" to subdue people.
