MacArthur on Yoga
John MacArthur was on CNN Headline News discussing the topic "Christians and yoga" with Emergent guru, Doug Pagitt, who used lots of cool emerging jargon like "Jesus Agenda."
Someone had the where-with-all to record the segment and put it on Youtube.

John M. does it again--a clear word.

Praise the Lord for this clear Gospel presentation!
Hey Fred, thanks for posting the segment, i was the one who had the where-with-all to post it.
Thanks Doug,
Rarely do I get to see these things with John because no one has the foresight to do anything about it.
Fred
Thanks for posting this about yoga. I recommend that people take a look a Douglas Groothuis's blog entry of August 25 on Christians and yoga as well as the comments. His blog is at: theconstructivecurmudgeon.blogspot.com.
Most Christians are clueless about what the are really doing when they in engage in yoga and eastern forms of meditation. I think the Apostle John said it the best: "little children, keep yourselves from idols." 1 John 5:21

Roger,
Yep you're right. I am like John, if you are simply doing yoga stretching exercises to loosen your bad back, that's one thing. But if you are meshing the stretching with some form of meditation for what is thought to be "spiritual" benefits, that certainly is another, and foolish for Christians to engage in.
Fred
Personally speaking, if one takes the spiritualistic and new-age stuff out of yoga it is transformed into what we used to call (during my high school football days)...stretching excercises.
LOL!
good video! MacArthur was very clear and to-the-point. It is somewhat ironic that immediately after he made the point of Christianity being God-centered and Yoga being man-centered and man-serving that the station gives everyone the opportunity to tell them what they think.
